Sorry for stalling and making so many changes, (Mostly an apology to myself) but I feel they need to be done. I have decided last night to write a new prologue and use my current prologue as a regular chapter, after an expansion of course.
My problem with the prologue is that, as I wrote yesterday, it sets up a mystery, but is answered early on. The other problem is that it doesn't set up the main storyline. The prologue I have written sets up more of the side story line between Myra and Yeino as opposed to the main storyline of Eryk. But I do have an idea kicking around. I know what should happen, I just need to visualize it better and perhaps flush out some of the dialogue and give the characters a few motivations.
I was actually close to posting my current prologue, but I am now glad I didn't as it will probably be moved to chapter 3 or 4. As I write the chapters, I find that they are interchangeable, not adhering to a single proper timeline. This gives the story a chopped effect where you never know where on the timeline you are. I am going to keep this in mind as I move forward and also edit the already completed chapters to comply with this decision. No one said writing a book would be easy and I never thought it would. I could put what I have out there, but I want to put something out there that I can be proud of forever.
