So I am 2 weeks into writing the first draft of my book. I have written 7 and a half chapters for a total of around 15,000 words, which is halfway to my original goal. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am going to expand on that and strive for about 60,000. I know I shouldn't concern my self with things like word count, but I find it is the best way for me to measure my goal and stay on track. As I have mentioned before, I have 4 main characters. Three of which I had at least a good idea of where to go, the fourth, Myra, who so far only appears in the prologue, had been a difficult challenge. But I have finally decided on a storyline for her and I am now excited to start writing new chapters.
When I am finished my 15th chapter, I am going to post the Prologue. It still has not been properly edited and I will need to go back to make changes once Myra's story line gets going, so I think I will wait a while. I do not want to post anything that is unfinished or unedited.
So I feel the first 2 weeks have been productive. I have a few good chapters (that of course need to be edited) and a lot of story ideas coming. I feel the premise is strong and I know where I want the characters to go. I am also still in a writing mood. I haven't felt the need to give up and I feel my goals are achievable. I know that I am going to see this through. Whether anyone reads or likes it, I will at least be able to say "I wrote a book."
