I have been experimenting with a new writing process. Well, I shouldn't say experimenting, it kind of just happened. As ideas came to my head, I would jot them down on yellow sticky note paper. I also found myself drawing little maps as well. Now I have a healthy stack of sticky notes that follow me from computer to computer. Yesterday, I finally broke down and decided to plan all the chapters for the book. Including the 8 I have completed so far, I jotted a quick outline for the following twelve.
My first novel will focus on charaters in the Northern part of my fictional world. I do plan on writing a second which will focus on the southern characters. In the end, these will be meshed together to create 1 complete novel which, I hope, will be the first in a series. My ambitions seem lofty, and I know it will be a lot of work, but that's fine.
Another thing I have been doing is, when I find that my writing is starting to appear stale and repetative to me, I will take a break and go read a book to get some fresh Ideas. I am currently reading 2 books right now. A Feast for Crows that I have mentioned before and Plot and Structure. One is a fantasy book and the other is a writing book, so I feel that depending on my mood, both have been beneficial. I am taking a break from writing today as I am not feeling very good, but am hoping to start chapter 9 on Monday.
