It's been way too long since my last post. Anyone who reads this probably thinks I've given up, but I can assure you I haven't. It's been a long summer, even though it went by in a snap. My writing schedule seemed to be all messed up. Everytime I sat down to write, I realized how nice it was out and went to do something else. I did manage to get a chunk of work done and have come to a final decision of what I'm going to do. I'm going to release each novella on Amazon as I complete them and then as a large volume once they are all done. I feel it's just taking too long to get anything out there. I'm actually in the process of re-writing the novella I finished a few months back. My cousin and I have edited it and I realized how many plot hole there were. I also realized how wordy I am. I've cut 3600 word chapters down to 2200. I think I was writing for volume instead of quality, which is never a good thing. I wanted my first book to be an epic fantasy, but realize now that probably wasn't such a good idea. I should've started with something smaller and worked my way up. I have other ideas, so I look forward to completing Kallodhan so I can move on to them.
I have written a few other short works over the summer as well. One I submitted to Tor in hopes they publish it. Since it's the first thing I ever submitted for publication, I'm not holding my breath. The only shitty part is that I won't hear back from them (good or bad) for 8 months.
As always, I'm still developing my writing formula and have realized that I am not the type of writer who can make things up as they go and let the characters unfold naturally. I have tried that and that's why I have inconsistent characters and so many plot holes. I have since gone back and plotted out, scene by scene, what will happen. I've also kept background notes that aren't necessarily needed by the reader, but essential for me.
In another attempt to save money and increase my productivity, I've gotten rid of a ton of channels. And since it looks like there will be no hockey this year, I hope it's safe to say that I will be more productive. My new deadlines are as follows. (I'm making these up right now)
Bound by Brotherhood: End of December 2012
Worries and Wonders: End of March 2013
Blood of an Immortal: End of June 2013
Of Wolves and Dragons: End of September 2013
Kallodhan (Full Book): End of October 2013
If I can write faster, I will, but these are the tenative dates I will aim for. And after looking at this schedule, I'm disappointed that it appears to be another year. I fell like Jari from Wintersun, constantly promising my product, but having to delay. (For those of you who don't know, Wintersun will be releasing the long awaited (8 years) Time album later this month... hopefully.) The best part is, they are coming to Toronto in December. They are #1 on my list of bands to see. There are actually only 4 others on that list. Be'lakor, Ne Obliviscaris, Wuthering Heights & Opeth.
Anyways, back to writing. I've finished 8 of 17 chapters for Bound by Brotherhood. I better get going if I'm going to meet that December deadline.
