As I've mentioned before, I'm a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, known for being the most hated team in the NHL. After several dismal seasons and failing to make the playoffs since before the lockout in 2004, they finally seem to be heading in the right direction. They've only played 13 games this season, but the last time they were first in the league at this time of the year was 1994, when they started the season with 10 straight wins. I was only 11 at the time and I don't think the internet was even popular yet. I've been trying to think back to 1994, but it seems a long time ago now as it was more than half my life ago. Doug Gilmour was my favourite player and Felix Potvin was my brothers. We had just moved from Aurora to Mount Albert that year and I was starting grade six at a new school. I still recorded songs from the radio (back when Edge 102 was still cool) and had a load of mix tapes. I was still five years away from owning my first guitar and was still in the midst of tryouts for the rep team the East Gwillimbury Eagles. My hopes weren't too high because I had been cut from the Auroroa 'A' team earlier that year, but I did eventually make the team and when we played Aurora, I scored three goals and had an assist. I'm sure the coaches regretted cutting me then. Ah, good ol '94. (BTW, NHL94 was the shit back then.)
So it is good to see the team perfroming so well and I hope they can keep it up.
On the writing side of things, I've had a few tough weeks but I finally broke through. I've past the 130,000 word mark and last week completed my longest chapter yet. It was over 6000 words, twice the size of my regular chapters, but the ideas just kept coming and the writing seemed to flow. I thought about splitting it into 2 chapters, but have decided to leave it. The chapter I'm workin on now may also be quite long if I fit in everying thing I want. I'm going to say it could maybe equal the last one I wrote. The book keeps getting longer and at my current estimation, it will be about 621 pages if you average it out to 250 words per page.
I can't wait to edit this thing.
