Since my last post was so short, I thought I'd do another one in quick succession. It's true that I've done no more than 2 posts a month since last March when I started my book, Kingdom of the Falling Star, and since then, it's gone through various changes, most have been recorded in this blog. Whether they were interesting or relative at the time or not, I found it interesting to look back at them and watch my goals and strategies change.
So again, I have decided to change things up. I wanted to have 4 main characters; Yeino, Myra, Eryk and Sam, but alas, things have been turning out quite differently. For the character of Eryk, there was just too much I wanted to do with him originally, so I decided to give him two brothers, essentially splitting his personality into three. I had no intention of giving them thier own chapters, but it seems that they will play as much of a role as Eryk, perhaps even more so. I was only to have 4 characters and prologue, but once finished, 11 characters will have POV chapters, some with just one, but readers will get to experience the story from 11 different Points of View. This may sound like alot, and it is, but it just had to be done in order to show everything I wanted to show in this book, so hopefully it is enjoyable and people can connect with the characters.
I have about 8 chapters and 30,000 words left to write, which is ironically my initial goal when I started. I've written 4 times that amount so far, I guess it's safe to say I'm 4/5 done. I'm getting quite excited as I near the finish line and hopefully will not start to rush things along. I'm excited to finish and even more excited to do a re-write, which is something I have heard most writers dread. I however know that it is required as my style has developed throughout the process and I can see a difference in my latest chapters compared to my first ones.
Anyways, writing continues...
