The editing process is going a lot slower than I anticipated, mainly due to the fact that the holidays are here and I've simply had no time.
My cousin is assisting in the editing process and so far has done an excellent job. I've done an initial edit on about 6 chapters so far, tightening them up and making them stronger. Some story lines have been altered and there have been big changes in dialogue as I found most of it was rigid and stale. I keep saying to myself, "What was I thinking?" when I re-read some passages.
Anything that I felt was awkward or didn't belong, I cut without hesitation. There's no sense keeping something if it's awkward and serves no purpose.
I've also have a great map now, thanks to my cousin who seems to be an expert on geographical conditions.
And furthermore, I've decided on a new title for the series. No longer will it be called Kingdom of the Falling Star. I've decided to rename it Kallodhan, after the continent on which the main story takes place. I found that it lends a bit more mystery and doesn't sound so fantastical.
I've also been toying with changing the name of the first book from 'Year of the Lynx' to 'Autumn of the Lynx', but I still haven't decided. If I change it to Autumn, I'd probably expand from a trilogy to four books to incorporate all the seasons, but one thing at a time.
